Max Diamond, M.D. combines experience in internal medicine, hospital operations, skilled nursing, utilization management, and physician development. His work connects decisions at the bedside with the systems that shape quality, access, and the patient experience.
Regal Medical Group
Dr. Diamond serves as Senior Medical Director at Regal Medical Group. In Southern California, his work includes oversight of inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing, and utilization management, collaborating with physicians and care teams across transitions of care.
North American Health Care
Dr. Diamond also served as Chief Medical Officer of North American Health Care. The organization operated 35 facilities with more than 2,800 beds across four Western states. During his tenure, 34 of those 35 facilities—approximately 97%—achieved and maintained CMS 5-Star ratings.
This experience brought together clinical oversight, facility operations, physician engagement, and a sustained focus on quality in skilled nursing.
Building hospital medicine programs
Dr. Diamond helped develop pilot hospital medicine programs and launch an inpatient hospitalist program in Florida serving Humana Healthcare. His responsibilities included recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervising a team of 65 full-time hospital physicians.
Across his career, he has trained and mentored more than 100 hospitalists and recruited more than 75 physicians to affiliated organizations. Physician development and team building remain central to his leadership approach.
Credentials & education
Dr. Diamond is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board-certified in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review and fellowship-trained in Healthcare Quality and Management, both through the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP). He completed his undergraduate and medical education at the University of California, Irvine, followed by residency training at USC Santa Barbara, Cottage Hospital.
Compassionate care & professional education
Dr. Diamond’s professional interests include hospice and palliative care, patient advocacy, appropriate utilization, and the quality of care delivered across settings. As a trainer and lecturer for physicians and nurses, he translates clinical and operational experience into practical education.
